Trans-thoracic cardiogram

Using cardiac ultrasound - or trans-thoracic echocardiography - we can take movie images of the heart and check heart valve function and measure chamber size and function. This test is similar to a pregnancy ultrasound - the probe is placed on the chest wall rather than the abdomen. This still image shows an abnormal heart in a patient with heart failure.
